Project Goal:
Scale the 6 templates from Echo Show to Echo Spot while keeping consistency with the CX and interaction patterns already established on the device. Finished templates should require no additional work by third-party (3P) developers.
Project Deliverables:
7 Display Render templates, including 2 list templates (vertical and horizontal) with multiple variations.
Summary:
After the launch of Echo Show, I was immediately tasked with hand-scaling the 6 existing Render Display templates down for the smaller upcoming Echo Show. While scaling the templates, I uncovered the need for and designed a full-screen scalable image template now known as Body Template 7.
Due to the lack of available engineering resources, I learned the necessary JSON in order to build out the code for each template by hand. My code was reviewed by the team's TPM and then committed by SDEs once tested.
After completing the templates, I then continued my work with the existing “Hero Skill” partners from Echo Show to ensure their skills scaled and adapted correctly for the smaller device. I also completed UX reviews of all Render Display enabled skills and provided feedback through our certification team to 3P developers if skill didn’t meet the established quality bar.
