Summary:

ALX314: Build an Interactive Alexa Voice Experience for Multiple Screens

In this hands-on workshop, developers learned how to use Alexa to reach millions of new customers by developing for multiple screens. We walked step-by-step through the entire process of building an Alexa Skill that would use a variety of screens - Echo Show, to tablets, to TVs. Developers learned design best practices for combining voice interactions with displays using Alexa Presentation Language (APL).

Prior to the workshop, my responsibilities included creating the design-related content, building the deck, and contributing to step-by-step workshop guide for participants. In addition to presenting the workshop 3 times at re:Invent 2018, I also completed live demos of APL and multimodal skills in the Alexa booth on the exhibition floor.
